Brazil v Mexico – Olympic Final

Brazil v Mexico – Olympic Final

So we’ve reached the final of the Olympic soccer event and to many it’s no great shock to see Brazil get there as they were favourites to win the Gold Medal pre-tournament. They did however get a bit of a scare in the quarters in their game against Honduras who despite being down to 9men come the end of the game ran them close, with the Brazilians edging it 3-2.

Mexico have been hot and cold in that they’ve scraped through some games, yet been impressive in others.

While I hate going the ‘easy’ route, I simply can’t look past Brazil as they simply have more strength in depth than the Mexicans. While anything can happen in a one-game final I can’t help but think it won’t be a matter of will they win, but more by how many!

One thing I do have to note is the reference to the under-23 tournament, yet each squad could have three over-age players. I mean come on, is it Under-23’s or not?

Verdict – Brazil Win (& on -1.0 handicap as well at 1.96)
