Goals At Both Ends?
POSTED: 13 December 2013
Tottenham coming from 1-0 down to win 2-1 at Sunderland last week helped top up the beer fund. I said last week that Sunderland had been playing poorly, yet as the EPL has shown this season there are still shocks. I was a tad nervous when Sunderland took the lead, but Spurs came through. I’m sticking with Spurs this week, well not Spurs exactly but their game against Liverpool.
If I was going the 1X2 I’d have to slightly favour Liverpool at the prices, however I’m aware Liverpool may have problems in the centre of their midfield with captain Steven Gerrard out injured. It’s also likely Jordan Henderson will not be fit so it leaves Lucas and Joe Allen as they’re only recognisable centre midfielders. That said last week they carved out over 30 chances according to the stats and when you have Luis Suarez in such form, then that should result in goals.
I note that last season at White Hart Lane this game finished 2-1 in Spurs’ favour, while at Anfield it was 3-2 for Liverpool. Both games over the 2.5 goals.
Talking of the two teams and their total goal markets, Spurs’ 15 games have saw 5 Over, 10 Under. Whereas Liverpool are the reverse, 10 Over, 5 Under. Of Spurs’ five games over, three of those have been their last 3 games. Whereas all five of Liverpool’s last games have been over. Ie, right now - both sides are now scoring and conceding.
So with this in mind, I expect the last game of this week’s EPL gameweek to have goals.
Pick – Tottenham v Liverpool – Over 2.5 goals @ 1.85
