Everton To Continue To Climb
POSTED: 20 December 2013
Last week’s pick of over the goals in the Tottenham v Liverpool was a winner, but I’ll be honest it wasn’t how I thought the win would come. I expected Liverpool to win but not by a 5-0 margin, nor that Spurs wouldn’t get a shot on target. Not that I’m complaining of course, a win is a win no matter how it comes – I just never expected it to be such a one-sided affair, Liverpool played them off the pitch and Suarez right now is simply unplayable.
So to this week fixtures, I was going to stick with Liverpool and over the goals such is the way they’re playing and they can go top with the win in the early kick-off, however at a price of 1.5 we’re not going to win much money. Some say a winners a winner, I like to get better odds than that though.
Tottenham were very poor last week and got rid of AVB the day after the game, so far this season they’ve had the 5-0 defeat as we’ve mentioned, a 6-0 defeat at City and arguably worse in a 3-0 defeat to West Ham, who never had a striker playing. So now when I see them travelling to Southampton I get tempted to back the Saints @ 2.5 to win. If no manager is in place by kick-off I’ll take that, however if they do have a new boss I’m always weary of the new manager syndrome that usually sees the side win that first game!
My pick of the week though is Everton to win at Swansea. Everton are playing very well under Martinez and are emerging as genuine contenders for a top-4 spot. I also note they’ve lost the least games in the league. Since Swansea returned to the Premier League, Everton have won both games at the Liberty Stadium and on their last couple of away games, beat United and held Arsenal to a draw when infact arguably the best side. I think they’ll beat Swansea and am confident to back them at the 2.37 available.
Pick – Swansea v Everton – Everton to win @ 2.37
