One draw, plus 4 straight losses are enough to make any manager disown that sorry bunch of blokes. Harsh, but not impossible, and I reckon that Bolton’s Owen Coyle has thought about doing that more than once. He’ll never admit it of course.
But as bad as their form is, it looks like Bolton could find themselves out of their sad place at 19th, and all it takes is a win against QPR. One win and they’re out of the red zone, and maybe life gets a little bit better.
Problem though: QPR have a 2 point lead and if I were them I’d be damned before I lose this match. If that happens, the drop zone suddenly becomes more real than they’d like.
This is a relegation fight. One wants out of the zone, and the other desperately wants to avoid it. Lucky for Bolton, they’ve gotten on pretty well against QPR so far, stealing a 4-0 win on the road the last time.
Also they’ve held on at home, with 1 loss, 2 draws and 1 win in 4 games. QPR have a sorry 3 losses and 1 draw in 4 road games.
I see an upset happening here, and I suggest QPR had better start coming up with a strategy if they lose. Things aren’t looking good for those blokes, and if I were them I’d be a bit worried. A team desperate enough to get out of relegation danger are sometimes capable of unexpected things.
Verdict: Home win
