Terry – England Skipper

Terry – England Skipper

After being named England’s permanent captain once again, John Terry says he has always hoped to reclaim the precious armband he lost amidst a tabloid storm last February.

I took a peek at England’s newest squad. Terry was reinstated as skipper by Fabio Capello over the weekend with former incumbent Rio Ferdinand missing the Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales due to injury. Word has it, the Man U defender’s ballistic about his removal.

In Ferdinand’s absence, Gerrard and Lampard had their turns to captain the squad. But this time, Capello chose to give Terry the honour on a permanent basis. I’m sure everyone remembers that 13 months ago, he was stripped off the armband following allegations of an affair with the former partner of then international teammate, Wayne Bridge.

Anyway, no one can deny he’s a great defender. Going back to the game, England holds a perfect record against Wales, they’ve won all their encounters in the past ten years. I find no reason to bet on Wales.

My pick is England -1.5.
