Why Not, Wigan?

Why Not, Wigan?

Manchester City are starting strong. Opening the season with a 3-win streak? Not bad. Better compared to last season’s 1 draw, 1 win and 1 loss. If they keep this up, nicking the top spot from United will be less of a problem.

Here’s the rub though. Those 3 games were against Swansea City, Bolton Wanderers, and Tottenham Hotspur. Don’t get me wrong, Man City are a top club, but there’s not much to prove in those matches is there? Swansea’s last 5 games in the EPL showed 3 wins and 2 draws. For Bolton, its 4 losses and 1 win. Tottenham have 3 losses and 2 wins.

Like I said, not much to prove for Man City.

Wigan might give them a harder time. For these chaps, no losses in 5 games. Just 3 wins and 2 draws. Their history against Man City isn’t impressive though, winning only once as visitors. Also, Wigan lost their last 3 games.

I’m not saying Wigan can beat City, and they probably won’t. But the chances of them breaking City’s winning streak are pretty decent. And for Wigan, doing that to a club like Man City is ALMOST good enough.

Verdict: Draw
